Officer Pete Llanes conducted the meeting, which was earlier and shorter than usual, to permit him to attend a police summit at Playa Vista.
Sal Grammatico commented on the festival to be held on the St. Girard Majella
church grounds September 30 through the 2nd of October. To prevent problems
they have had in the past, prior to the festival, the entertainment will be
reviewed by the festival committee to insure it is appropriate for the venue.
All vendor carts and stands selling food on the grounds will be checked to insure
they are licensed and have the proper permits from the Health Department. Illegal
vendors will not be tolerated. If vendors are selling from carts in front of
homes outside of the church grounds, neighbors are encouraged to phone the police
and ask them to remove the vendors. If the music is too loud, it will be toned
down or it will be shut off. In the evening the festival closes down around
10:00 p.m. Officer Llanes will be working that weekend.
At the end of the festival, people will go through the neighborhood within a
two to three block area of the church to remove debris.
One meeting attendee inquired about helicopters flying for hours over our area approximately two weeks ago. Officer Llanes could not comment on this specific incident but surmised they were doing a perimeter check. He stated that helicopters landing and taking off from the Pacific Division are normal happenings. In some instances they are dropping off and picking up people.
Friday and Saturday evenings are very busy at the Pacific Division. If you have
a problem, ask to speak to the Watch Commander rather than the front desk.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Brier
